Transcript for "Transforming Learning with EchoEngage":
Hello, everyone, and welcome. Thanks so much for joining today's session, transforming learning with Echo Engage. My name is David Kaplan, product marketing manager at Echo360. And over the next thirty minutes, I'll walk you through how echo engage, part of Echo360 echo system, is helping institutions deliver more engaging learning experiences across every modality, in person, online, or a combination of the two. I'll begin with a brief slide overview to introduce the core benefits of Echo Engage, specifically Echo Poll, and how it supports real time student participation, automates attendance tracking, and makes formative assessment easier for instructors while improving learning outcomes for students. Then I'll show a live demo of key capabilities in action, like live polling and quizzing, engagement and participation tracking, attendance tracking, and our cutting edge generative AI, functionality, echo AI assist, to help instructors quickly create context aware poll questions based on their existing lecture content and materials. This session is designed to be interactive, so please feel free to drop your questions and comments into the q and a and chat area on the right hand side of your screen. And I'll do my best to address them, during the session or immediately following, directly. So what I'm gonna invite everybody to do at this point is actually go ahead and scan the QR code that you're gonna see on your screen. What you're seeing is a live PowerPoint presentation. Everything you're gonna see is live on the call today. And so if you go ahead and scan that, you're gonna be taken to, an image and and, a screen on your phone and you're gonna be able to follow along with the presentation as we go. So without further ado, let's get started. So the ecosystem, for those, unaware, is the world's learning transformation platform. And thus far, in our learning transformation series, we've covered Echo360 Inc, Echo360 Video. And today, we're focused on Echo360 Engage, which is the formative assessment, and live polling, solution, of the ecosystem. So it allows you to elevate learning experiences through polling and gamification with solutions like Echo360's point solutions and Echo360 Poll. Today, we're gonna be focused on Echo360 Poll specifically. So Echo360 Poll, again, it's an audience engagement, solution designed to enhance interactions. Presenters integrate real time polling quizzes, surveys, and feedback into their sessions, and it fosters active participation and better interaction and engagement inside the classroom and beyond. The problems that Echo360 Poll seeks to solve, an inability to engage learners synchronously in class. This is something we hear over and over from instructors. I'm sure many of you on the call have experienced this as well firsthand. Poor attendance tracking workflows. So, not being able to have strong visibility and an easy workflow for being able to understand who's present and who isn't and be able to have geolocation aware flexibility as well so that you understand is somebody actually present or they're just checking in online. Tedious to assign work based on PowerPoint content. So you might have PowerPoint decks that you've created, over years and you've and you've created and you've thoughtfully curated all of that content. But it's really tedious to go through and actually generate assignments or create content that will asynchronously, make sure that students are actually learning the content and able to practice on their own. Polling performance doesn't talk to other systems like your learning management system. So that's another problem we seek to solve. Core knowledge retention for learners. So a passive learning experience doesn't doesn't, reinforce the learning content that's being taught and that can hurt retention of students both in the in the classroom in terms of what they're actually retaining for knowledge, but actually also, their enrollment in universities. When polling is available, it's limited to the availability of where it can cover. So maybe it's limited to only one specific area. Maybe there's an app that it works in, but it doesn't work on everything that you have. And a need to just overall drive better learning outcomes throughout the university and educational institution. And so EchoPoll seeks to solve these, issues and problems through our core functionalities, live polling. So we connect audiences to content via mobile, web, and clickers. We're flexible to support both web and desktop, and we also have polling functionality that can span any screen that you have. So whether you're in PowerPoint like we are now with Echo360 full plus, whether you're on the browser, which we're gonna see shortly, or whether you just have a video or something else that you really wanna make sure that you're adding polling and interactive content to, we can support that. Recording and tracking attendance. We can track attendance by choosing specific check-in locations or designating a radius where learners have to participate. So you can make sure that even if you're using a mobile device to check-in, they can't be in their dorm room while they're checking in for class. Asynchronous assignments. So in addition to the live polling sessions, we also support asynchronous assignments. You can schedule assignments for learners to complete them at their own at their own pace, and you can tailor the start and end times for the availability that you want to. And all of it, is support supported with performance tracking. So Echo360 engage, solutions like Echo360 pull, which we're covering today, sync with the most popular LMS solutions in education, making it easy to track learner progress based on the assignments, as well as the live sessions that you're, that you're having in class. In addition to those attendance figures, so that you can make sure that everything is staying in sync and talking to one another. So the benefits of Echo360 full, quite simply, we boost learning outcomes. We boost interaction and engagement to drive deeper understanding of concepts that then materialize as greater academic achievement, which is the whole goal of education and what we're really trying to strive for. We help you improve attendance. Echo360 Engage customers have seen 60%, improvements in attendance rates by utilizing polling in the classroom in our in our technologies. We can enhance existing PowerPoint decks. As I stated before, the presentation we're looking at right now, this is native in PowerPoint today, and we've actually included polling questions and a polling question at the end, which I'm gonna open up and ask everybody to participate in, and you'll see firsthand how this can be used. Additionally, we have FAI Assist, which allows us to supercharge, engagement, by creating questions automatically based on the content that we're already using. And we save time with the LMS sync. So you can spend less time worrying about how you're gonna get all of your systems to work together and reduce that friction and more time attending to your learners in the instruction process overall. So with that said, I'm gonna go ahead and open this polling question right now. How does Echo360 Engage enhance audience engagement during sessions? So if everybody can just go ahead on their phones and enter their response to this, a, b, c, or d, you'll be able to, you'll be able to access that. And I'll also drop the code there as well so that everybody can rescan that if you haven't had a chance to yet. So a is the answer. It's by integrating real time polling quizzes, surveys, and feedback. And as you see here, what's really great about Echo360 Pull Plus, it natively works in PowerPoint. This is a polling question that we're running in the background, but it natively works directly with the systems that you're already using. And this is how many of our customers are already leveraging Echo360 today. So with that said, now I'm gonna jump into our browser based Echo360 experience and show you how, many of our institutions are using that to engage learners, and students as well. So this is our EchoPoll dashboard. And like I was saying before, currently, we support our, PowerPoint specific and native experience with Echo360 Plus, but we also support a browser based Echo360 experience. And this is where if you if you would prefer not to use PowerPoint natively, you can create poll decks in our browser experience and invite learners to participate and have those links, deep linked directly in the LMS so that everybody can access those where they're where they're most needed. So what I'm gonna do, off, is just show you we're in Echo360. Let's make a poll deck. And a poll deck is very similar to a regular deck, except it's enhanced with those engaging poll questions baked in. And so when we go ahead and we actually start to create a poll deck as an instructor, we have two options. The we can start from scratch. We can add our own content. We can we can build in the experience that we have that mirrors many of your favorite, poll software your, deck softwares already your presentation softwares already. We also have echo AI assist, which provides the ability for us to, use artificial intelligence to actually generate questions automatically based on the content that we have. And if we go ahead and we click on use Echo360 AI assist, we can browse our our, library of content that we have on our computer. We can actually upload content directly into it, and then that will prompt the system to start suggesting content that we can make. Now I've already gone ahead and actually, ingested the Echo360 engage webinar, deck that we just looked at in PowerPoint. And so what I'm gonna do go ahead and do is click edit and open up that experience. Now immediately, what you'll see is this is a brand new interface that we just launched with Echo360 poll. This experience is made to mirror the experience, of using some of your favorite presentation tools where you can where you can create, and and alter and select the specific slides on the left. You can, change the content specifically in the middle, and you can even choose the specific slide types as well as the questions that you wanna add to that content on the right. Now by default, the system is gonna ingest all of the same slides that we were looking at before. However, because it's not a poll deck yet, that's why we're in the poll deck editor. And so what you're gonna see here on the right is the ability to generate questions or, add additional slides that we would like to potentially add to this presentation. So we have eight question types that are supported within Echo360 poll ranging from an open ended presentation slide to multiple choice, multiple select, numeric response, short answer, true, false. And then we have great icebreaker functionality as well. Things like hotspot and word cloud. For the purposes of this though, we really wanna focus on how we can speed, our creation process and use artificial intelligence to do so. So I'm gonna use Echo360 AI, and I'm gonna ask the system to generate a multiple choice question based on the content that I've updated. So I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna click multiple choice. And then as it's thinking, it's gonna generate a slide based on the content based on the content of the of the deck, and it's gonna recommend a question that we can have. So by default, it suggested this one. What is one of the problems that Echo360 solutions aim to solve? High cost materials, excessive break times, overabundance of assignments, or poor attendance? Now what's really great is not only is the question generated, but the answer is as well. So you're not left to have to pick which of these answers would be correct. It's gonna automatically tell you that as well. Now if for some reason you don't like the question that was suggested or maybe you wanna tweak it a little bit, we have a really great editing interface which allows you to change any of these words or any of the content that we have within our slide deck, so that, we can update that pullback there. Now on the right hand side, you're also gonna see additional options. Things like, choosing the question settings, whether we wanna anonymize responses, whether we wanna require response only for what we're actually pulling in. And then we have other options like time to response. So in this case, by default, it's gonna be fifteen seconds, but we have flexibility to create additional options and and add or subtract time. Brand new, this is brand new functionality that we also just released. We have the ability to score the question with advanced scoring. So if you want to be able to assign points based on if somebody got the question correct or if you wanna be able to assign participation credit, maybe they got the answer wrong, but you still wanna be able to track that they were there, they were participating, they answered and, were in class and participated in the question, you can do so. So one example of this is where maybe we wanna have two points for the correct answer, but we wanna have one point for, folks who might have answered incorrectly as well so that we're, by default, giving credit for everybody across the board. Now additionally, we also have the functionality to, display the results in different ways, visually so that folks can see that, after the question is closed so they can participate and understand, what that, result was across the entire course. And so we can show just as the answers are right here, vertical bar chart, pie chart, or word cloud if it's more of a participation based question, and that and that makes sense to do so. And so what you'll see here is that now that we have our questions, so we've got this one of the, what is one of the problems that Echo360 solutions aim to solve? And we've got another multiple choice, question here as well. How does Echo360 enhance audience engagement during sessions? That question will look familiar. It's the one that we used before within EchoPull Plus on PowerPoint. And so what's really great is if we want to actually see what this would look like and actually mirror what it would look like in class for this session, we can do that in a couple of ways. The is, if we're having a real class, we have to have real attendance. And so what I've gone ahead and done, I've opened that attendance. And so as a learner, the experience that they would see when they're participating with this content and they're actively participating in class. They would follow that link to the content, to the session directly from the LMS. Single sign on would get them right into the experience, so there'd be no friction with that experience. And then immediately, it would take them directly to where the attendance is being taken. So right now, I get this little check-in box. David Kaplan, attendance is being taken for the echo engage webinar. I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna check-in. And then that's gonna actually save to my learner profile and be able to sync to the LMS. So after the session has ended and attendance has been closed, that will then sync over to the LMS as well. In addition to attendance, all of the course rosters are synced with, the LMS as well. So all of the courses that exist in your LMS of record today, whether that be Moodle, Sakai, Google Classroom, whatever the case may be, that will sync directly to echo poll. So there's no manual work required with making sure that your rosters are kept in sync. Okay. So now that I've checked in for class and my attendance is all ready, next, I think it's gonna be really great if we actually show you what that browser based experience looks like. So I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna preview that right now. So again, I'd invite anybody, when you're in that session, what you're gonna do, you're gonna scan that QR code. We're gonna go ahead and we're gonna start that session. And so similarly to the way that it works within Echo360 Poll Plus, you'll see this experience for the instructor. We have these menu controls and we have this, we have this bar down at the bottom, which gives the, navigation ability, to be able to run the session, run the run the show. So as an instructor, what you would do is you would click next and be able to go through your deck just as you'd expect on any other, solution that you might be using like PowerPoint or another slide deck presentation tool. So you would go through your content just the way that we did before, problems we solve, the overview of the product. And then when you get to the question point, you can go ahead and you can open that up. And then responses will start trickling in automatically. What's really great about this is that just like it works in, PowerPoint, we mirror that functionality in the browser as well, giving you maximized, flexibility and functionality. Now in addition to, individual performance, with with our polling, we also have some great gamification elements built in. So if you really wanna build that engaging classroom, that engaging lecture where everybody's able to participate together collaboratively, you can do so with Echo360. And the way that we support it is through Teams. So on the left hand side, you'll see all of the different participants who are actually attending our session today. And if we want to, we can go ahead and we can just create teams. We can set the number of teams that we want. By default, it's gonna be animals, but we can use letters as well for, what we wanna call those teams. I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna set, let's just say 10 teams of five since there's 50 of 50 folks in here. And, once we've gone ahead and we've set those teams, gonna go ahead and reopen it again. And what's really great is now, after the session, we're gonna be able to track not only, what the performance was individually, but we're gonna get team based performance as well. So if you really wanna amp up the competitive spirit of your learners in the classroom, you can do so here. We're gonna get the team ranking. We're gonna get the participants individually, and And we're gonna get the individual leaders on all five of those, on all of those teams in particular as well. So it's really great functionality when you really wanna make sure that you're engaging and building an interactive classroom experience as much as possible. So that's a taste of what our, solution looks like for live polling for that synchronous session. Next, I wanna show you how easy it is to not only build live polling experiences, but leverage assignments that can be used asynchronously as well for things like homework or reinforcing the concepts taught in class. So what I'm gonna go ahead and do is, I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna say new assignment. Now a session is a live session that happens synchronously, but an assignment is one that happens asynchronously. And if we go ahead and we click new assignment, it's gonna allow us to create whatever we want and be able to assign it to the course that we would prefer it to be assigned to and be able to make sure that learners can access it on their own time in their own way in the way that works for them. So again, I'm gonna just call the assignment name Echo360 Engage webinar leave behind material. Because in this case, it's gonna be something that we would do asynchronously after the fact. If we want to, we can associate it with a specific course, in this case, the Echo360 Engage webinar. But we also have participation settings. So if you're leading things that aren't necessarily limited to a single course roster, you can open it up to specific learners, the entire organization, or even guest participation. So if you wanna have guest sign on or even remain public and have it be open to everybody, you can do so. In this case though, I'm gonna leave it open to the course record for the Echo360 Engage webinar, and I'm gonna I'm gonna limit that to the course roster. I'm gonna keep the date open so that we can we can access this at any time. But if you want to, you also have the flexibility to set start and due dates to make sure that learners are accessing the content that you want them to access at the right time. That way, if you go ahead and you pre assign all the work for the entire semester, you don't have students that are getting ahead of themselves and going way ahead with all the work that they're doing. So at this point, we have some other settings as well that are really helpful, when we talk about the flexibility that Echo360 offers. We have assignment settings. So if we would like to, we can offer and, give the ability for learners to see the solutions. What were the answer, to the questions that we asked within the assignment? We can, we can also have a flexibility to show the score and the results as well as randomize the answers. Why well, why would you wanna randomize the answers? Well, if everybody has the same assignment across the roster, it might be helpful to randomize the answer and randomize the order of how this is being done so that it makes it harder for academic dishonesty and to maintain some of that academic integrity when you're using this for take home homework assignments, for example. So everybody's assignment is slightly tweaked and slightly different. You can also set the number of attempts. So if this is something that you want learners to be able to come back to you on a continuous basis, we support that with unlimited attempts. But if you wanna make sure that this is, a little bit more of a high stakes, assignment and you wanna make sure that you're actually only letting learners get one crack at it, we support that as well. So I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna I'm gonna select one attempt. When I click assign, this is now available to all the learners across the roster. And so as an instructor at this point, my work is done for the time being. It's been assigned. It's in the hands of my learners to make sense of and and take action on. And that's exactly what I'm gonna do next. So, what I'm gonna go ahead and do now, because I am a learner in this account, in addition to an instructor, I sure hope I get myself a good grade for this course. I'm going to launch my course in refreshing. And what you're gonna see now is that that echo echo engage webinar leave behind material is now an assignment. And so I can jump in, I can click start, and when I start that assignment, I'll be able to follow along at my own pace. So that's no longer a live a live session. This is now an asynchronous assignment, and I can go back. And now instead of the instructor controlling, the flow of the presentation, the learner has full control over the speed and how that's, going through. Now something else I wanna call out because accessibility is an absolute core value of Echo360, and it's something we believe strongly that we need to be providing as open and accessible a learning environment as possible so that we, enable everybody to participate. What you're gonna see over here on the right is our user way accessibility widget. And this widget is available across every screen in the entire learner experience. And it's designed to make sure that learners can in in, can make the system work in the way that they need to for the way that they learn best, in their own style. So we have contrast ratios that we can change. We can make the text bigger if you would like. We can make the text spaced out. There's dyslexia friendly fonts that we can work with. We can make a cursor bigger to make this more, intuitive and easy to use for for, folks who who have different preferences and needs. And this is one of my favorites. We also have this reading mask. So it focuses on the content that's right in front of you so that you don't get overwhelmed by everything on the screen, and you can go line by line and focus on what's most relevant to you when you need it most. We can just go ahead and reset those at any point. But I think it's really important to call that out that every learner is enabled to do the work that they do best in the way that they, the way that they need it. And all of those settings are personalized to the learner accessing it in in their own way. So let's go through. I'm gonna go ahead and say, what is one of the problems that Echo360 solutions aim to solve? Poor attendance. How does Echo three sixty enhance audience engagement during sessions? By providing physical handouts? No. By encouraging passive observation? Definitely not. By limiting the use of technology and presentations? No. We we we enable that. So I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna answer by integrating real time polling. And then at this point, I can go ahead and submit and finish. And I'll get real time feedback on how I did on that assignment. So I'm gonna go ahead, submitted. That's final. Now that's tracked directly to my learner, my learner account, and now my instructor will be able to report on that performance in their own way. The way that that works is if we go to my reports, we can go ahead and see specific assignments that we've, we've we've given here, and we'll see the status is currently in progress. But we can go ahead and we can actually see the results of this. And if we do so, you'll start to see, of the course roster who participated, who got those questions correct. And, again, all of these assignments sync with the LMS, so they keep the grade book in lock step, whatever LMS you're using, to make sure that learning, is not happening, in a bubble in Echo360 engage or any of our other, ecosystem solutions. Interoperable and it's it's modular to be able to, work with other systems to make sure that we are fully building in the workflows, that our instructors, learners, and administrators rely on. Now there's one other thing that I wanna highlight, and that is attendance tracking. So you'll remember earlier in the session when I went through and I checked that I was here when I got that prompt. So if I open up, my course here as an instructor oops. Should be able to get it here. If I go to my results in my, course specifically, Echo360 engaged course. Oops. Having a little bit of issues here. Let me go through. So if we go to results and we go into attendance, you'll see that if we go to attendance, we can see exactly who was here, who was present on a specific date and time. Now in order to open attendance, in order to have that experience that I had earlier in the session where I just went in and click, you know, present, I'm here, check-in. The instructor goes ahead and they open the attendance. Now what's really great about that is the flexibility to set the location. So if we go through and we actually set that location, we can enforce it, we can set wherever we want that to be, and only learners that check-in on their device when they're present in that physical location will be counted. Now that is fully optional. So that is not something that has to be turned on. We also support clickers in the classroom, and you don't have to enforce location, if, if you don't wish to. But it's just, again, additional flexibility and functionality that we offer. And again, once that attendance is taken and you have your report of who was absent and who was present, you can export that directly to your LMS, whatever that may be, whether it's Canvas, Moodle, Sakai, etcetera, whatever you're using. And that will be reportable going forward so that it'll update your grade book and you'll be able to, update your relevant learning records going forward. So I know that was a really brief, run around of Echo360 engage, specifically Echo360 pull. But at this point, I'm gonna, go back over to the chat and see if we have any questions. We have, just a minute or so remaining here. So if we can get to some of them, that'd be great. But I'm also going to, follow-up, with folks individually if there are specific questions that we don't have time to, get to on the call, right now a lot. So it looks like it looks like we have a question about knowledge retention among, low connectivity or remote settings. This is really a a great question, that I see here in the chat. Echo360 poll and Echo360 engage are designed to be flexible. So whether you're online or offline, we support that. So right now, today, we showed, some of that online capability when we're using our mobile devices, but we also support clickers. And what that means is when you might not have Internet or you might not have Wi Fi, you'll still have the full functionality to be able to, to reinforce learning and reinforce concepts and make that learning as interactive and engaging as possible no matter where it happens, whether you're completely off the grid or, you're, you're you're in a, a web and mobile connected space. So now it's, we're getting to the top of the hour or the bottom of the hour here. So, if there are any other questions, we will address them directly. Thank you everybody for attending. We look forward to seeing you in our next session of transforming learning. The next session will be specifically focused on Echo360 exam, and we're really looking forward to seeing you then. Thanks, everybody.
